(I) Intercession for the Nation

1. Entering Our Destiny — Thanksgiving and Cleansing
(1) Offering Thanksgiving
Psalm 92:4 – “For You, LORD, have made me glad by Your work; at the works of Your hands I sing for joy.”
Psalm 92:5 – “How great are Your works, LORD! How profound Your thoughts!”

The works of the God who created the universe are immense, and His thoughts are exceedingly deep. That we have been chosen by God to be His people is an extraordinary grace. Let us give thanks and praise to God’s for choosing us, with God as our refuge, our lives are filled with hope.

(2) Cleansing and Repentance
Amos 5:14 – “Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say He is.”

God is holy and cannot tolerate evil. Let us come before our holy God in true repentance, confessing our sins thoroughly. Pray for God’s forgiveness for seeking evil over good and for walking away from His path. May the Lord ignite in us a deep longing to dwell in His presence every moment of our lives.

2. For Kings and Those in Authority
Zechariah 4:6 – “So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.”

Pray for New Zealand’s political leaders — that they may understand the governance of a nation is a divine mandate and a matter of utmost importance to all people. May they lay aside selfish ambition, humbly obey God’s will, and, led by the Holy Spirit, lead the country out of its difficulties so that all people may be blessed.

(B) For the People of This Land
Isaiah 65:9 – “I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will inherit My mountains; My chosen people will inherit them, and there will My servants live.”

Pray for the next generation — that they may know Christ from a young age and receive His truth in church, at home, and in daily life. May they become part of God’s household and follow Christ faithfully all their lives.

(C) Prayer for the Church
2 Corinthians 9:6 – “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

Preaching the gospel is God’s great commission to us. May every church in New Zealand become a “church without walls,” reaching out to people so that they may hear the gospel, come to know the Lord and receive salvation.

(D) For Israel and the Nations
1. For Israel
Luke 19:43 – “The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.”

Give thanks to God for giving Israel a sophisticated intelligence system and powerful military that can accurately strike its enemies. But if this strength leads to pride and hostility on all sides through force, the day will still come when calamity strikes. May all of Israel — from top to bottom — recognize the time of God’s visitation, humbly turn back, and come to know the true Messiah, that they may receive real peace.

2. For the United States
Ezekiel 39:21 – “I will display My glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them.”

In this age of conflict, may American leaders clearly understand the responsibility entrusted to them by God. May they be willing to submit to His will, take up their duties, lay aside self-interest, and play an active role in resolving global conflicts. May the U.S. carry more responsibility in promoting world peace.
