247 Watch Prayers (14.09.2025 – 20.09.2025)
(I) Intercession for the Nation
1. Entering into destiny — thanksgiving and cleansing
(1) Thanksgiving
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
The Lord Jesus is the light of the world. We thank the Lord for His redemption, which has delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into God’s marvelous kingdom of light. We thank God for His choosing, that we may become a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s own people. May the Lord lead us, as His people, to live for Him, to testify of His salvation, and to proclaim His excellencies.
(2) Cleansing and repentance
Matthew 9:36
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
God forgave us in Christ and accepted us as His children. Yet after receiving forgiveness, we often fail to forgive others. To those in need around us, we do not always have the compassion of Jesus, nor do we help them as He did. Lord, forgive us for not having the mind of Christ. Help us to truly show kindness, forgive one another, and be united in the Lord, serving together with one heart to fulfill God’s good will.
2. For kings and those in authority
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
New Zealand’s triennial local government elections (for mayors, city councillors, and local board members) are being held from 9 September to 11 October.
Pray that the Lord will reign and rule over this election, raising up leaders after His own heart to bless the people. Pray also for all those in governing authority worldwide, that they would turn to God, act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him in governing the land.
(II) Prayer for the People of the Land — Youth
1 Timothy 4:12–16
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Pray for the next generation. May God help them to understand His truth from an early age, to resist the patterns of this world, and to consecrate themselves to follow the Lord alone. Pray that God will provide them with spiritual companions so that they will not be lonely, and grant them courage and boldness to shine for the Lord. May they receive spiritual gifts from God and become mighty warriors in His kingdom. May His blessings always be with them, so that in their studies and work they will be leaders and not lagging behind, they will rise above and not sink down.
(III) Prayer for the Church
Ephesians 2:13–15
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace.
Let us continue to pray for unity among churches and denominations. May God help us understand that though we have different callings and destinies, reaching different groups and receiving different pastoral strategies, we still belong to the one body of Jesus Christ. May we be vessels useful to the Lord, accomplishing His will together in unity in Christ Jesus.
(IV) Prayer for Israel and the Nations
1. For Israel
Isaiah 46:13
I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.
Prayer: Almighty God, Your promises to Israel never fail. Today, as Israel remains in conflict and unrest, we ask that You Yourself be their shield. Let Your righteousness draw near to Israel. Protect the innocent, comfort families who have lost loved ones, and grant wisdom to leaders to seek justice and peace. Most of all, may the people of Israel come to know Jesus Christ as the true Prince of Peace, and find real peace and salvation in Him.
2. For Syria
Psalm 102:17–18
He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea. Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.
Syria is facing one of the worst hunger crises in its history. More than 14.5 million people face food insecurity, including 9.1 million in urgent need and 5.4 million on the brink of famine.
Prayer: Loving Father, the people of Syria have suffered through years of war, and now they face severe hardship and hunger. Lord, You have promised to hear the cry of the poor. We intercede for them: provide food for hungry families, heal sick and weak children, comfort orphans and widows who have lost loved ones. Stretch out Your hand of mercy over this broken land. Above all, may the gospel come to Syria, that they may find true salvation and hope in Christ.
